THEN: In 2003, proprietor Douglas Boxer realized he wanted to make a difference in the world & truly help enrich people’s lives. So... he reinvented the “classic” hamburger & started pushing burger boundaries with chief Burger Master, Chef Eddie Hernandez. Soon after, the doors opened to Boxer’s first burger joint where he started testing the palates of New Yorker’s by evolving the simplicity of the hamburger that everyone grew up on.
NOW: In business for over a decade, the RARE Bar & Grill restaurants, located within boutique Manhattan hotels are known to New Yorkers & visitors from all over the world as a NYC Institution. The ever evolving menu has over 20 different burgers today, including flambéed whiskey burgers & steakhouse chops which have both our loyal guests & food critics flipping over.
THE REVELATION: Overtime, Boxer came to terms that not all mankind can live on burgers alone. With this revelation, Rare Bar & Grill grew into a larger foodie experience putting a culinary edge on traditional American pub-style food. Soon after, Rare’s menu introduced innovative dishes such as Lollipop Wings, French Fry Tasting Basket, Reuben Frickles, Larceny Laced BBQ Ribs, Vegetarian Meltsation, Grilled Salmon Salad, Cowboy Ribeye and more.
THERE'S MORE: Each Rare Bar & Grill location would not be complete without it’s other business. Owned & managed by Rare, Rare View Rooftops, located in each hotel have become an integral part of the entire Rare Experience. Pre or post dinner, guests transport to the rooftops for cocktails under the stars, 360-degree views of the iconic skyline & a genuinely great time. Rare View Rooftops have become one of the most in demand event spaces, both nationally & internationally.
